Stylin' Soles in NOLA

It seems like just yesterday I was raving bout being selected as a volunteer for TOM's Shoe Drop in NOLA. (30 selected out of 5,000 who applied-YIKES! Big deal!) As may of you may know, TOMs is a brand I hold very dear to my heart. As a lover of fashion, travel and humanity TOMs mission simply ties all of my passions together into one and helps kids in different countries to have shoes on their feet.

My NOLA experience was amazing! I met a lot of great people including Blake and his mom, I fell in love with New Orleans, I participated in TOMs 1st fashion related national drop, and we gave TOMs a lot of exposure by finally having the brand appear on Good Morning America (clip posted below). Most of all, however, my life was touched by many little people who I had the pleasure to design shoes with. These kids by far were nothing like the kids that TOMs helps in Argentina or Africa. They had homes and shoes and most of their families were in much better place now than right after Katrina. But you cannot judge levels of need. The kids we met went through one of the most traumatic events of our decade and deserved to have a little fun and happiness in their life. As an adult looking in, its funny how much you can learn about life from kids, their stores and their life experiences. It was something I wish for everyone to participate in.
