Coachella Fashion Countdown: 23 Days Out

Long awaited Coachella is approaching quicker than I ever expected it to come. It seems like it was just yesterday when I wrote my post Coachella 2010 blog, yet I'm already finding myself panning my festival outfits for this year. I'm pumped!

What excited me the most is my 1st e-newsletter from one of my favorite stores, Planet Blue (www.shopplanetblue.com). I wanted to share some of the pictures from their 1st Coachella 2011 photo shot, as well as their awesome editorial inspired by Coachella's music stages. If you have ever been to Coachella you know what I'm talking bout and you will appreciate this editorial as much as I did.

PEACE + <3 + Music + Fashion = COACHELLA

See you in the desert :) 23 days...& counting

Oscar Snapshot 2011

Some people make bad decisions, like John Galliano who got fired today from Dior for making anti-semetic comments. Fortunately, this year's Oscars, were filled with some good ones! I think that my all time favorite dress was Mila Kunis' Elie Saab. The style was perfect, is was very romantic and delicate, yet edgy and sexy. Mila rarely gets it wrong on the Red Carpet.

In addition, the color of the Oscars this year happens to be my favorite - RED! Below is a collage of all my favorite ladies in red.....

... As well as those in color :)

May I add that Madonna's daughter, Lourdes, is turning out to be a hot little fashionista. Also, props to Jessica Biel, who never gets it right, yet somehow this year she managed to score a great beaded piece with her HAIR UP!!!! Kudos to you, Jess!

All that glitters...

Since I've never seen the "Wizard of Oz", i don't know much, but I do know that Dorothy had Kick@ss red, glitter shoes that got her back home. Personally, I think that all women should have some magical glitter shoes. They may not get us from place to place with a snap of a finger, but OH BOY do they look good on the dance floor!

I treated myself to a pair of amazing, silver glitter shoes by Jeffrey Campbell! Can't wait to get them in this week.

If you too, want to treat yourself to some grilzzzzz, here are some of the hottest choices today, along with few online retailers who carry them :)

A.D.I.D.A.C....( "C" as in Coachella!!!!)

I know what you are thinking! Wasn't Coachella ... like 4 months ago? And next year is still far, far away?

The answer is yes... to both questions, actually. And all I can say to explain this July blog entry is that Coachella is like a lover that you gave your heart to, only to have him walk away with it 3 days later. 3 short days of careless love-affair, yet you can't forget about the time you spent together. Coachella is a DRUG! Its my drug. I think about it every day. I get happy because it happened. Then, I get sad because its gone. And then, I get anxious because it will happen again in about 9 months.

I figured, that since I spend so much time thinking about Coachella, I should follow though on a blog entry, 3 months in the making, about Coachella Fashion - a fashion like no other! As you walk though the polo fields on those hot, April desert days, you find yourself in Hipster Land, CA, population everybody. There are no limits, there are no bad or good, there are just people expressing themselves in an extreme, LA hipster way. You can't help but look, love it and appreciate the creativity and expression of self through fashion. To me, Coachella was all about accessories (Hats, feathers, big earrings and of course Ray's), Boho Chic dresses and flowered tops, and comfy shoes, like TOMs and your fave pair of flat Moto boots or natural colored gladiator flats. Here are some of my personal favorites, from the fields and tips on how to Bo-Hipsterize yourself next year:

Bo-HIPSTERIZE yourself by adding the following to your next year's Coachella outfit, which you DO plan way in advance :) :
1) HATS and headgear! Big floppy hats, small straw hats, beanies, headbands, flowers! - Be daring be bold!

FIFA FASHION ... Who are you wearing?

(90 days ) (13 hours) (55 minutes) (12 seconds)..... To the biggest event of this year - FIFA South Africa! Do you know who YOU are wearing?

The answer is simple for me. Although I'm very patriotic and I love my country, Poland... isn't the best at much. And I say that with love. We didn't even make the finals this time around. It is also no secret to anyone that I have, I do and always will root for FORZA ITALIA!

So... That's it! I'm wearing Puma. I'm supporting Italy and I just Pre-Ordered my KICK @ss, SX (YES- Girl sizes available) Italia jersey.

Get on the band wagon... World cup will be here before you know it. And me..... well, I will be watching it in Europe. Feel free to hate me :)

LaLaLa....etitia!!!!! Oui Oui!

Today I had the unfortunate experience of having to watch the new season of TOP MODEL. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate ALL reality TV. Intervention is the best show ever, actually. But, I do hate shows that degrade fashion as a form of art. and TOP Model does that so flawlessly.

I don't care to know the models, their lives, and the fact that in reality they may be dumb as hell. I want them to sell me clothes, sell me their personality on a runway. I want them to become what they wear. TOP MODEL definitely takes all the mystery out of modeling... and makes it look like a talentless craft for bimbos in most cases.

WHAT HAPPENED TO MODELING?!?

Well... just as I was loosing hope and seeing the fashion industry crumble, I saw and article from Paris Fashion week where one of my all time favorite models, Laetitia Casta, hopped back into the game at age 31 to walk the runway for Louis Vuitton.

Although, the French beauty has been MIA, she looked flawless :) Check out the pictures!

So the moral is, real models are ageless and flawless and their success doesn't "expire" with age.... what has the last, 20 year old winner of TOP MODEL done lately? Huh?

Laetitia @ age 21.. she has not changed!

Stylin' Irish (Yea.. just like the Fightin' Irish...I did mean to do that)

Every March, although I'm 100% Polish, I like to dress in green to to celebrate every Irish person's favorite Holiday (Irish American that is) - ST. Patty's Day. So what's a stylish girl to war on an occasion like this one... well take you pick! From basics to bling to, splurges, there is an abundance of green in todays fashion world! Here are my pics for this year :)

Erin Go Bragh! Now go have a Guinness in style!

Vanity Coupling

It seems like the Vanity Fair Oscar party was the ONLY place where fashion was worthy of a praise. I just mentioned some of the ladies and some of my favorite post-Oscar party gowns. It is now only fair to give a shout out to the HOT fashion couples.

On my Best Dressed list you will see the following:
* Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens in a sexy, black, sequin Jenny Packham dress
* Josh Jackson and Diane Kruger in a Calvin Klein
* Hottie Stephen Moyer and fiance Anna Paquin in a shot but sweet black piece by Roland Mouret
AND FINALLY
* My favorite Ice-Skater Evan Lysacek and his leading lady of design Vera Wang --> She designed his Olympic costumes =)

I guess Oscar day wasn't a total disaster!

The Men of the Oscars Save the Day!

I live for fashion and let's face it, Oscars (and sales) are like my Christmas....which is why yesterday when NO ONE WOWed me on the red carpet, for the 1st time EVER... was as if someone told me that Santa Clause isn't real.

So what's a fashionista to do? Well, I guess looking out of the box for the 1st time would be a good place to start and in this case, if all dresses fail, look to the men. And WOWed me they did. From Fashion GOD himself, Tom Ford, looking like a Hot Tamale to, Jake, Bradley, Chris and Ryan. The boys in black saved the Oscar Red Carpet glory.

I guess these hotties are not only great eye-candy ... they also step up to the fashion plate when needed.

Good job boys!

Jean Paul 4 Tarjay

DRUMROLL !!!!!!!!!

March 7th!!!!!!!!!

That is the official date that the Jean Paul Gaultier collection hits select Target stores.

So what are we to expect from this French genius? We'll as you will see below, anything from tattoo printed dresses and bottoms, to stripped tops and 50s style dresses that can be topped with edgy, leather jackets.

I don't now about you, but I started the count down about a month ago! 3 days to go.... And Zac Posen (AHH !!!!) is NEXT.

I will report my buys and the quality of the collection after the weekend.

Just sharing some cool stuff....

So few weeks ago (YES- weeks .... it takes a while for me to post a blog entry), I found this awesome article on current.com. I would love to share it but link seems to be broken these days. SO anyways, it was a gallery of old personal and those not so personal celebrity pictures featuring anyone form Madonna to Dali... It was all these amazing people in the most random moments of their life capturd on 35mm film and scanned into the computer. Priceless! Before the link decided to crash, i was lucky enough to copy some of my favorites on to my desktop. Here they are - people that at some point in my life influenced in in big and small ways :) Can you guess them all?

Best photography I've seen in a while. Enjoy!

Alejandro! 1969-2010

I write this blog with a tremndous amount of sadness. This morning Alexander McQueen, a fashion mentor dear to my heart, was found dead in his apartment London. It was suicide by asphyxiation. How dark and poetic at the same time.

It is always sad when someone so talented and young leaves us way too early. In case of McQueen this is especially hard on me because people like him inspire my own creativity and drive me to do what I really love in life.

To many of you who do not know McQueen on a deep artistic level like I do, you will know him for this - LADY GaGa. Yes ladies and gentlemen, Lady Gaga would never be so Gaga without the help of Alexander. Her 10 inch alien-like shoes, her performance costumes and her award gowns and outfits - it was all his genius putting it together and her pulling it off outside of the runway.

I composed a quick collage of my favorite McQueen moments. I <3 you Alexander and you will be missed :(

I Love California

I recently celebrated my 27th Birthday by organizing a Laguna Beach bonfire...Yes just like Kristen and Steven on the show. DUH!

It was the most amazing day and I was able to take some amazing photos. I now have a pretty hefty collection and I thought it be nice if I shared my amateur photography skills (digital and 35mm film)

This is why I live here :)

SAGs 2010 - Is that you again Kate?

I refuse to sound like a broken record so this will be brief. I don't think I need to say much about Kate Hudson in the white Pucci at the SAG Awards. Lust look for yourself.

PS Ladies-This back = HOTTTTTTTTT! Yoga, everyone, we must all do more yoga!

As, always there are the 2nd BESTs. This time Anna Paquin Leads again in Alexander McQueen. Followed by Marion Cotillard in Elie Saab. (She's flawless because she's European... Just sayn' ;) We're hot people). Finally, we have Diane Kruger in a piece that resembles a dress Michelle Williams wore to the Oscars in 2006.

2010 Golden Globe Best Dressed - FINALLY!!!

I admit, I am a bit delayed because its been a few days, but here it finally is: My Golden Globes 2010 Best Dressed !!

So it probably won't be a huge shocker to anyone who knows me, but I fined Kate Hudson ....FOR FLAWLESS EXECUTION!!! Yes.. Kate does it again. This time, celebrating the success of NINE, Kate makes her presence know on the Red Carpet with a very architectural Marchesa dress.... not to mention the HOT SHOES, chandelier earrings and perfectly swept hair (with a bit of an architectural touch may I add).

I feel like on the 6th day (before they rested) Fashion Gods created Kate, flawless muse of all good fashion. Thank you fashion Gods!

I do want to give credit to few other best dressed of the night, especially Anna Paquin. This was a very memorable night for her, in my opinion, because she has not really made that many memorable fashion statements and this one really says "I'M HERE and I'm HOT". Good job Anna! TRUE BLooD Rules... and now so do you!

2010 : The year of Oxfords

This week I feel like I've been on a mission. Well.... let's back track. This all started in a bathroom stall at work (YES). For the past week I've been meeting the same girl in the bathroom and of course me, being me, I noticed and fell in love with her Oxfords. Since then I though more about Oxfords than one person should ever think about a pair of shoes in a year. I Thought about their origin and definition. After all, I've been IN LOVE with the new lace-up TOMS. They look like Oxfords... are they tho?

So here it is (according to wikipedia.com):

An Oxford shoe is a style of leather shoe with enclosed lacing. Oxford shoes are traditionally constructed of leather and were historically rather plain. The shoes originally appeared in Scotland and Ireland (WOOHOO), where they are occasionally called Balmorals. The design of the shoe is often plain, but may include some small ornamentation or perforations.
The meaning of the terms Oxford and Balmoral vary geographically; in the U.S., Balmoral is synonymous with Oxford; elsewhere, especially in Britain, the Balmoral is a particular type of Oxford where there are no seams (apart from the toe cap) descending to the welt, a style particularly common on boots.

Rather a long definition, but I think I've reached some clarity. I've done my research and found some of my fave Oxfords available out there. And YES - my TOMS are oxfords too. Now which ones to get?

To end my bathroom story... today I saw her again and actually asked where she got her shoes. They were Bakers - who would have known! I love complimenting people on their fashion if well deserved. Maybe next time I should ask her bout her name :)

"Jimmy Ugg" OR "Ugg Choo"

No, no. This is not a joke. The "sex symbol" shoe of the fashion industry and the snuggly, furry surfing shoe are joining forces to create feet magic.... or feet disaster. We know well that either brand separately can do no wrong. If I could, I would live in Uggs. I probably own 6 pairs. Jimmy Choo...well I'd live in them too, but I probably would have to sit most of the time, because let's face it, most heels are made for walking for only 2-4 hours. More so than anything, at the moment Choo's are more of an investment than something easily attainable by little old me. Either way, Choo = greatness!

So what will this collaboration bring to the fashion scene?
Will it be a success?
Should we expect some furry 5" stilettos?
OR sheep, surf shoes on heels? (which would resemble the Timberland on heels trend circa 2002 - yuck)

Only time will tell. The products will retail from $595 to $795 (Ouch), BUT I am super excited to see the final product!

Here is a snapshot of my UggChoo vision.... hehe :)

Free Praha

Free People AKA Maggie's clothing Mecca! I love that company, their marketing, blog and lately...their catalogue that comes on monthly basis. I think that Free People is a company that really has their sh*t together. They understand importance of digital advertising and social media and have become GREAT at it. They integrate different aspects such as music, books, travel and celebrity into their digital advertising making it (in my opinion at least) pretty epic for our times.

Although I'm praising FP on many levels here, I really just wanted to talk about their newest catalogue. WHY? Because I'm European and I have a certain "Euro Bias" for my homeland and January (the month of my birth may I add) catalogue was shot in its entirety in PRAHA!!!!!!!!!! Yes, the old Czechoslowacja where my gramps used to buy my fave Mary Jane sneakers during his work trips (White with blue/white/and red flag).

Although, I've never been to Prague precisely I know its beautiful and seeing this catalogue made me excited for my June trip with Vicks. I've included few images from the catalogue to share with you, as well as a post from the Free People blog and pictures of the city.

Its an amazing place. Look it up. Study it. I think if you try its really easy to fall in love with a place without ever setting a foot there.... (at least for now)... so Fall in love <3

And do check out the Free People blog. Its a good read for any fashionista, book or music lover or anyone who's looking for something cool and different on the w.w.w.
